Siobhán McGuirk is an anthropologist, adjunct professor, and founding member of the LGBT Freedom and Asylum Network. Her doctoral research focused on the role of NGO advocacy in shaping narratives around, and providing services to LGBT asylum seekers in the United States. Before moving to the U.S., she worked extensively with women asylum seekers and their allies in the United Kingdom. Siobhán frequently uses collaborative documentary film in her work, and regularly contributes to activist organizations and projects that contest oppressive immigration policies and enforcement practices. Siobhán also works as a Commissioning Editor for the UK-based Red Pepper magazine.
