Crystal Jackson is an assistant professor of Sociology & affiliated Gender Studies faculty at John Jay College-CUNY. She studies and teaches about gender and sexuality from intersectional feminist perspectives. Jackson came out as bi and queer in her early 20s in Las Vegas, a city she misses, not quite having adjusted to NYC. In Vegas, she founded the Feminist Drinking Club, experienced activism/organizing alongside friends on a wide range of causes, and solidified her love of sci-fi & feminist. Jackson is co-author of The State of Sex: Tourism, Sex, and Sin in the New American Heartland, a scholarly examination of Nevada’s legal, rural brothels.
