Queer Youth & Homelessness
Joey Lopez is the Director of Outreach and Health Services for the Ali Forney Center. Joey has been working with runaway, homeless & street-involved youth almost 20 years. For the last 13 years, Joey has worked at the Ali Forney Center.
The Ali Forney Center is a multi-service agency dedicated to working with runaway, homeless and Street-Involved LGBTQ Youth ages 16-24 years old.
Joey also serves on various advisory boards, coalitions and planning bodies advocating for the needs of the population AFC serves.
Joey is the Co-chair of New York City Continuum of Care Youth Sub Committee, who right now are working to help youth serving programs implement the Housing First Model in NYC as well as creating a plan to end youth homelessness in New York City
Joey draws his strength from being a life-long New Yorker and a former Homeless Youth himself.
