Michelle Martin-Baron is an Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. Michelle earned her PhD in Performance Studies at the University of California, Berkeley and completed her undergraduate studies at Brandeis University. Her academic work examines large-scale public mourning rites as performances of national belonging through a queer framework. Performances of nation and community are a central theme in her other research interests, which include multi-ethnic theater and Chicana feminism and visual culture. Her published work can be found in Queer Necropolitics (Routledge, 2014).
